Details: Clifford House is a 100 unit mid-rise apartment building with 5 units specially equipped to accommodate residents confined to wheelchairs. The Project Based Section 8 facility accommodates low-income one or two person households where the head of household is at least 62 years of age or older, unless disabled/handicapped. The completely Smoke-Free facility is nestled in a park-like setting near downtown Bridgeport within close proximity to Route I-95, Merritt Parkway, Bridgeport Port Jeff Ferry, and bus and train stations. The nearby police and fire departments provide an added level of safety as well as quick response times to emergencies. Restaurants, pharmacies and shopping are only blocks away. The beautifully landscaped property with water views boasts free on-site parking, first floor card-op laundry room, reliable elevators, handicap access throughout and live-in superintendent. Activities and events planned by the Tenant Association and Resident Services Coordinator utilize a bright, open Community Room. Holiday and birthday parties, picnics, Bingo, card games, Bible studies and blood pressure clinics are just a few of the goings-on at Clifford House. Trips to casinos, Harbor Yard, and theatres are attended throughout the year. Our Place, a volunteer-run store featuring affordable non-perishable food and paper goods, is available to our residents on a weekly basis. In addition, complimentary bus service sponsored by the Bridgeport Police Department takes residents to a local Stop & Shop grocery store twice per month. New this year! A monthly, year-round Mobile Food Pantry, sponsored by the CT Food Bank distributes a free selection of goods to residents in our parking lot. Clifford House is privately owned and has been managed by Russow Asset Management, Inc. for over 20 years. Staffed includes a highly skilled live-in superintendent, a part-time Resident Services Coordinator who facilitates annual rent certifications and offers assistance to resident needs, and a part-time janitor.
