Details: Barnum House Apartments opened in 1928 as the former PT Barnum Hotel. It was later converted to a disabled and senior community located in downtown Bridgeport. The property still boasts original detail from it's lively past; including original woodwork and hotel registration desk. We offer studios and one bedroom living options for seniors on-the-go! We offer the perfect balance for seniors who want to participate on-site events such as Adult Coloring, Arts & Crafts, Bingo, Game Day, Nail Art, or day trips to explore the neighborhood. These moderately priced apartment homes are centrally located with easy access to public transportation.. All of our apartment homes feature energy star ranges & refrigerators, wood plank vinyl flooring, spacious closets and ample kitchen cabinets. We are a Project Based Section 8 building – the rent is based on 30% of your gross income. Applicants must be 62 years or older to apply for residency. Couples are welcome to apply if one of the couple meets the minimum age requirement. Additionally, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the Section 8 rental assistance program of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and satisfy the admissions criteria of Barnum House.
