Details: Florida Gulf Coast Apartments opened as a Section 202 Program for seniors, who are at least 62 years of age, with 150 one-bedroom and studio apartments located on spacious and well-maintained grounds. We have a long history of serving seniors in meeting their needs for housing that is affordable and offers the best opportunities for quality of life. Our roots go back to the mid-1960s when a Christian organization sought to create senior apartments constructed for independent living of older adults. In December 1968, Florida Gulf Coast Apartments had its debut open house, and soon began welcoming its first residents. When Florida Gulf Coast Apartments were built, our location on Linebaugh Avenue in north Tampa was part of a smaller section of town. As Tampa’s population expanded, the area grew with more shops, housing, recreational opportunities and places of worship. Our residents enjoy this bonus of convenient access to a host of nearby amenities. Florida Gulf Coast Apartments became a not-for-profit organization in 1972 and remains so today. Governed by Christian business leaders, Florida Gulf Coast Apartments are dedicated to meeting the needs of seniors and providing housing that is affordable and high in quality. In May of 1984, we decided to participate in the HUD Sec. 8 program, and we entered into the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract that continues to this day. We are proud to serve the community as a true 202/8 facility. Our staff strives to meet the personal needs of senior residents to make Florida Gulf Coast Apartments not just a place to live, but also a comfortable, safe and attractive home.
