Details: The Nellie Bechtel Senior Apartment complex consists of 12 buildings on five landscaped, shaded acres just three blocks north of 15th and Patterson, close to groceries, banks, medical facilities and other services. Each building has eight units, four downstairs, four upstairs and each building has a complete laundry facility. Some buildings have stair-glides to the upper floors. Grand Valley Transit provides city-wide bus service with pickup about one block away. Also a local bus service provides trips on Thursdays to the Mall and other stores. The Bookmobile visits bi-weekly. Blood pressure checks are offered on a regular basis in the clubhouse. Monthly pot luck luncheons, dinners and other social activities are also held there. Nellie Bechtel is an independent living facility, although nurses, house cleaners and other services come regularly for some residents. Ownership and management is local and responds quickly to resident needs. Pets, unfortunately, are not allowed. And all buildings in the complex are "no smoking".
