Details: Melbourne Public Housing has apartments located at 110 Dixon Street, 135 College Street, and 185 College Street in beautiful Melbourne, Arkansas, the county seat of Izard County. Melbourne is located in the center of the County just a short drive to the White River, Lake Norfork, Blanchard Springs Caverns and the Folk Center in Mountain View. A short drive to the northeast of Melbourne is Hardy, Arkansas with its quaint downtown full of antique stores and great canoeing offered by the Spring River. Melbourne hosts the Pioneer Days Festival each May- a great time to visit with old friends. Melbourne is home of the Izard County Fair and the North Central Arkansas District Fair in September. Ozarka College is located in Melbourne and offers not only adult education classes but also concerts, lectures, other cultural events. Melbourne has many churches, civic organizations, a nice city park with walking trail, and a new public golf course. Melbourne Meadows is just a short drive to the Town Square, Post Office, and shopping. Many of the supermarkets and pharmacies deliver at no charge. Melbourne Public Housing has 46 units located in nice neighborhood settings. There are twelve 3-bedroom units located at 185 College Street, eighteen 1-bedroom units located at 110 Dixon Street, and four 1-bedroom, eight 2-bedroom and four 3-bedroom units located at 135 College Street. Handicapped accessible apartments are available. All apartments are on ground level with sidewalks providing easy access to all apartments. The office is located at 185 College Street, and also includes a small activity room. Melbourne Public Housing is a beautifully landscaped complex with trees and flowers. Lawn care and maintenance are provided. Each apartment includes a refrigerator and range, as well as ceiling fans, mini blinds, and tile kitchen and bathroom. Each apartment is wired for cable TV and telephone, which are available at renter’s expense. Rent is based on income and the landlord provides water, and sewer.
