Details: This building was named after Albert Pike- A confederate military officer. He was also an attorney, writer, and Freemason. Also, a judge of the Arkansas Supreme Court. The hotel was built in 1929. Functioned as a hotel unit December 1971, when the Second Baptist Church assumed ownership: purpose was to provide a family retirement community that was happy and uplifting. In 1976 the hotel received a Section 231 loan from HUD. National Register of Historic Places by US Dept. of the Interior in 1978. We here at Albert Pike Residence Hotel are excited about the positive changes we are making to our community. Albert Pike Residence Hotel is a 130 unit multi-family, independent living, housing community providing rental assistance for the elderly (62 years and older) and people with disabilities through the HUD Project-based Section 8 and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs. We offer 76(0) efficiency/studio bedrooms, 51- 1 bedroom, and 3- 2 bedroom units. Maximum occupancy limits are two (2) person per bedroom.
