Details: Mendham Area Senior Housing Corporation, (MASH) is a 40-unit, smoke free apartment community providing subsidized rents for 35 of those units. MASH is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development affordable housing program for seniors and disabled citizens. As a federal housing provider, we abide by the policies and practices contained in the USDA Non-Discrimination Statement. Established in 1980 through an inter-church initiative and alliance with Mendham Borough, MASH is a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation managed by 3 staff members and governed by a Board of Trustees. We work cooperatively with the individual houses of worship, schools, and clubs to welcome a variety of activities such as senior dinners, exercise classes, yoga, bingo, student and scout visits, fellowship hour, and Meals on Wheels services. We believe that ongoing community interaction and support is important for our project as well as for our MASH residents. We encourage citizens to become annual members of the corporation and welcome their personal and financial support. In addition to our affordable housing program, we coordinate Mendham Area Senior Transportation Services (MAST) from our offices at 1 Heritage Manor Drive in Mendham, NJ. We provide scheduled rides to doctor appointments or grocery shopping for all senior and disabled adult residents of The "Mendhams". MASH is conveniently located right next door to the King's shopping center. Our garden apartments have individual entrances. The second floor units are accessible by a stairway. Four of our first floor units have roll-in showers and one of those units is totally wheel-chair accessible. Each apartment has approximately 600 square feet of living space with a combined living room/dining room, a small kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and a bedroom with a walk-in closet. The second floor units include a deck off the bedroom. Our office is located in the Community Building. Our Community building houses shared laundry facilities and individual MASH resident mailboxes. We open our Community Building to senior groups and MASH residents' family gatherings. We offer a large community room with a full kitchen, lending library, TV, music and computer center.
