Details: In 2006, Mercy Housing assumed ownership of the Rose of Sharon, a 12-story senior property located in the National Landmark Historic District in Savannah, Georgia. Many homes in this area sell for more than $1 million, making affordable housing for seniors a real challenge. After acquiring the property significant improvements were made including installation of a new heating and air conditioning system and a new fire sprinkler system. A new roof along with upgrades in common areas and individual units were also completed.
