Comment from blondie78 on 2015-01-02 02:22:06: My sister is in her early thirties. She is disabled and have lived with my mother her entire life. My mother passed away in June. They lived in an apartment for 30 percent of there income however they do not accept children. My sister is currently pregnant with her first child, therefore she cannot live there after the baby comes. She only receives 798.00 a month. She cannot afford to pay the standard 400 or so a month for rent with utilities and everything that goes with it. I took her to apply for a apartment at the wantas. She was denied because she has ONE thing on her credit report. They didn't even give her the option to pay the debt. I am certain that if you can't live there with ONE thing on your credit report then at least 75 percent of the country would not qualify to live there. I have lived in clintonville for many years and i know for a fact that both past and present renters do not have the best credit/court records. A friend of my sister was being evicted around the same time she was applying. Her friend had 4 kids, no income,a criminal history,ect... How did she get an apartment? I might not be able to prove it yet, I have a really GOOD feeling that her application was barely considered after listening to the local garbage gossip. Its a small town and I have personally seen employers from different apartment complex's having conversations with each other,so it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they share more than the weather. They never checked ONE reference. When I asked about it, the caretaker of the property said that they don't do that until after your accepted. What sense does that make? How do you know if someone is a good renter or not? The letter said the decision WAS NOT just based on her credit check, BUT there was NO OTHER BOX CHECKED FOR A REASON! So, she has 10 years rental references, has a monthly income of almost 800.00, NO criminal history,is DISABLED,yet was DENIED BECAUSE ON ONE SINGLE BILL!!! It doesn't take a genius to wonder if she should be SCREAMING DISCRIMINATION!
