Details: T.E. Brown Apartments is located at 3601 S. Wells Street, Chicago, Illinois. It was built in 1975, under Section 202 of the National Housing Act with Section 8 assistance. There are one hundred and sixteen (116) one-bedroom apartments that are available to eligible elderly (age 62 or over) or mobility impaired individuals. There are nine (9) apartments designed specifically for mobility impaired applicants. The apartments have approximately 520 square feet of living space. T.E. Brown Apartments is an eleven-story elevator equipped building. The property features a freight elevator designed with rear door access, a laundry facility and several community rooms, which residents utilize for meetings, crafts and other activities, There is a large social room on the eleventh floor, overlooking Chicago Skyline, which has a full commercial kitchen. There are two (2) social rooms on the first floor, which provides big screen television and a pool table and computers for the resident’s use. There are also two large aquariums, which proves relaxing to the residents. Outside you will find a wonderful park like garden sitting area providing picnic tables, grill area and benches in the sun or shade! There are a variety of social programs on the property. Aside from the monthly potluck, in which all residents can donate an ingredient, other activities include weekly Bible Study, Bingo, Health Screening, Movie Night and the Birthday Club. Located next to the newly constructed White Sox Stadium, the residents are always included in events that are held there. The activities and services are designed to promote pride and participation. There is a Social Service Coordinator Program avaliable that provides technical support for the residents, in obtaining home health care services, scheduling health care programs and implementing various activities for the residents.
